The Deepend 

a short story 

One day, as Scarf was in transit to a aquatic world called Maymesol, she was flying in a private ship called the Neverrest Junior, a replica of one of the skyships that the Incorporateds had, where she was hearing of an old rival of the Incorporateds called wrenchien who'd wound up crashing.. so she decided to fly in, and wound up being shot down by some of the defenses she couldn't detect right away .. and ended up crashing into the oceans.. after seeing somehow a vision of wrenchien in the clouds.

And though she sank into the ocean, she later woke up as someone tried to help her.. but she was like, 115 or so feet underwater.. in this strange bedroom.. with a jellyfish over her head. It was a nice room, she thought, but it was kind of a dump from what she was used too.. and as she walked to the window, the door buzzed, and a bunch of sharks dragged her out with herself little able to resist.. And she was brought into the main room by these shark-like beings who had a grudge against luminary for many, many years as it'd seemed.. since time ran faster in many worlds than others. They wanted some information from her, apparently , but Scarf wasn't really in a giving mood since she was underwater. 

Along with a being named Obstentatious, she was invited to have a meal with the group held captive as the sharks talked shop mostly.. mostly about bad jokes about past game shows they'd seen during their lifetimes.. but she didn't feel much like eating considering there was a jellyfish over her head she couldn't quite get off.. or get food through. And as unusual, Obstentatious and Wrenchien , two of perhaps the hardest to kill of all the incorporateds, were arguing about the bad old days between each other.. sangurians that Scarf recognized from legends about them long known for many years, even back to the days when the Incorporateds were founded.. especially Obstentatious who often would argue with wrenchien about the stupidest of things, like indeed, who made whom and why.. and she wondered indeed.. Why did wrenchien have a wrench Head, and why was he so small? Was there rumors indeed of a wrenchien Jr wandering about the universe upset at his dad , that Casey often mentioned in debriefings.. at the many dinners they'd had in the day? 

Eventually, the sharks, feeling Scarf wasn't going to give them much information, decided to have Scarf taken back to her room, whom didn't really feel much like in the mood for talking as she wasn't able much to be heard underwater.. but they saw indeed she must be cursing up a storm for being underwater so long. "She must  not be hungry for such fine foods", one of the sharks who called himself Tiberon Jr said", as Scarf was taken back.. and there was scuffling behind the group as they had troubles Restraining wrenchien and obstentatious... who both had troubles fighting underwater.. 

Later that night, Scarf saw Casey Jr in a vision, saying that Koi would be sent to help her escape, as her powers might work better under water than the others available at the time... and Scarf replied, "Well, she'd better not mess this up, as I might want this thing off my head one of these days.", as she sat in the darkness of the water, who personally wondered.. "Still, why am I worried? It's not like I'll be underwater forever.. though man, I'll probably go hungry in a few days or so." 

So, later that morning, as the sharks in their hideout somewhere on maymesol, made their patrols and looked in each of the rooms, Koi snuck in and defeated the sharks with a weapon much like daydreamers, and managed to defeat the defenses of the shark's hideout.. and even got Wrenchien and Scarf and Obstentatious out of the place. 

As they made a break for it, the sharks tried to follow the group outside, with a bunch of them trying to swarm on Wrenchien in the hopes of capturing him, as Obstentatious, who hadn't really been powerful lately and scarf swam ahead, managed to hold off the sharks by creating an air bubble that he used to slam back the approaching sharks, and make them float off.. and scarf at last managed to get on board  as Koi managed to find the Neverrest Jr, and bring it back online.. So that perhaps they could get off the planet.

Although Obstentatious wasn't able to fit, he did say "I must stay behind to ensure your return to the battle of destiny that awaits you", as the small Wrenchien boarded, and Scarf got onboard, taking off the jellyfish head and nursing her own neck.. as they flew away from the planet... with scarf having visions of a future as she went back home, and wondered..

"I wonder indeed if I'm not as alone as i thought I was", as she reboarded the Grand Neverrest and it took off.. with Wrenchien on board, on their way to yet another battle among the stars.

Behind them, the sharks surrounded Obstentatious , as all faded to black and there were screams.. but mostly from the sharks underwater.. 

Who hadn't eaten in a while.
