Sleep Flyer by charles duncan Lightwave, one of the newer incorporateds, had often slept in a lot these days, wondering indeed about Casey and some darkening dreams he kept having about time and space.. doubts about himself and the others around him.. as well as some visions of her future...and one day she walked into the main hall while there was some offtime.. where the Incorporateds, as well as strange shadows behind casey, seemed to dance as they all sat around the fire, probably discussing some day's events as the war had settled down a bit.. and there were odd visions of varied realities around her as they flew back to okura for a while.. mostly wondering if something bad had happened. "So.. anything new happening", Lightwave said as she sat down with her friends, who wondered somehow.. , "Because I haven't seen any alerts in a while." "Not really", said Casey, "Though for the life of me... I was surprised that Argon didn't do a lot of damage to us overall when he visited us last. But somehow, I sense somewhere, he's in very much pain.. as if a lot of voices in him weren't just trying to tear him apart.. but others." "Well, If he darkens our doorstep again I hope I can handle him.. say.. Is it me? For when I see you sometimes.. I think you're being haunted by something in the past. I just don't know why." "Well.. Let's just say I've been having visions lately.", Casey said.. As the ship went into orbit over a seemingly peaceful world... and Casey stared out.. seeing flashes of things outside the window... as If he stared at the end of it all. Lightwave said.. "Well, I was wondering.. Do you ever dream of the future? I keep dreaming of me and Halifax being together more.. than just friends... And somehow... there is pain that seems to be coming." "Well, personally", Speedster said as he walked in.. "I really don't know what the future will bring, but I assure you, we're probably gonna win this thing in the end.. no matter what we become." Lightwave then went over to the AR chamber, which was pretty empty at the time.. which still had records, of other things, of Long-glory's evolution from a ordinary feline-being to a being capable of multiple forms and abilities.. some of which were even funny ones.. like brick walls, the ability to stretch himself so many ways.. even his sometimes sentimental side of the world. "What do you think I will become", Lightwave said to Speedster. "Hopefully, a legend.", Speedster said as he noticed something. "Uh.. are you flying or something.. because you're levitating above the ground.." Lightwave, not sure how to answer Speedster, floated away after getting a snack.. because somehow she felt pretty hungry lately. --- Later that night, While Wilson was watching the Neverrest, and was getting worse as his own visions kept getting wierder.. he knocked on Lightwave's door.. just to check in on her.. and wondered.. What the heck do I do if Halifax and Lightwave someday marry, and try indeed to have kids.. Where do we put them? And.. uh... Somehow, Wilson looked up and Lightwave was floating high in the room.. sleeping soundly and soaring.. but floating as Wilson almost let out a yelp, but quietly. "Uhh... Halifax.. I think we have something wierd happening.", he said as he notioned Halifax into the room. "Ohh my", Halifax said. "Is that even possible? Or is the gravity off in there?" "Well,", Wilson said.. "The gravity seems to be ok... but indeed, maybe something's off with her.." And somehow, in her dreams, Lightwave saw sunny skies in them.. as she floated above the clouds.. so very high, indeed.. that she almost couldn't breathe.. but somehow, she felt great joy, indeed.. that somehow the cares of the universe were leaving her behind... And indeed, Halifax somehow was in them, and she wondered indeed.. was there something about Halifax that, at the time, was special in him.. in spite of some of his faults in his powers and dreams yet to come? And when she woke up, she turned over and looked down.. and yelped herself. "She can fly", Gazlennia said as she was visiting for a while.. contemplating indeed whether to take a vacation for a while.. as it seemed to be overdue. "And I wouldn't be surprised considering who her father was." "Well, not everyone can", Wilson said, "Though being able to defy gravity is something special, and not really beyond possibility.. and might be useful someday.. " as he stared at Casey, who had left for a few hours to check up on some things. "What are you contemplating", Casey said, as Wilson stared right at Casey. "Lightwave.. can fly", Wilson said.. "She can fly." "But I think that would be impossible", said Casey. "Doesn't seem to be so impossible.. but let's go test it out", said Carolina.. "Because I really want to know if that would be beneficial someday to be able to fly, and not just be earthborne at times." Gazlennia and Wilson both looked at each other as Long-glory set out some popcorn he'd had left in stock.. for special occasions, but he sure didn't feel like going to the grocery store lately. "Don't you know anything better to eat than popcorn, Long-glory", Lightwave said as she floated by, took the popcorn and ate it in one gulp, then burped. "Uhhh", Long-glory said.. "Niiice one", as he went slowly into the kitchen. Later that day, as they went grocery shopping at the nearest mega commissary, believed to be a place where many beings did their shopping, Lightwave floated above the ground a bit gathering a lot of food.. mostly none of it Popcorn, which Long-glory seemed to enjoy.. as indeed the Neverrest was being restocked for the next sweep and the next crisis Casey always wondered if it would have been his last.. and sometimes he saw the generic girls go by, a group of grocery workers watching the store, and flying by.. and wondered why some of them laughed at him as he got a bunch of food for himself.. especially a new cot.. and often he muttered.. "Is today just not my day?.. and why is it do I wish to fly someday? I've been pretty well off on the ground." And indeed, though everyone got the groceries indeed, they certainly didn't expect lightwave to personally float through the aisles almost silently humming... or actually kinda happy. "Wieerrdd", Long-glory said.. as they reboarded. Somewhere on Jasaya, Long-glory looked up as Lightwave darted above in the skies.. almost happy, it would seemed.. and Halifax wanted very much to fly, indeed. Windbreaker, not far from where Long-glory sat, said.."Well.. you think it is normal for anyone to fly? Because they seem to be so happy doing so", as they sat by a tree and watched the day go by. "If not.. It ought to be", Long-glory sighed.. as they watched the world go by, and Windbreaker stood nearby... and Laughter indeed came down.. on a mostly peaceful world. At least.. for a while, anyway.. in a moment that time could freeze forever and save.. as one of the better days of their lives.
